Kumbhakarna, the brother of Ravana, Demon King of Lanka, is depicted as a monster character in the epic, the Ramayana. Kumbhakarna, a sleeping giant slept for six months and remained awake for a day was predicted to be in danger if he was made to wake up any other day.
